Would something like this ever actually work? With cartoons, you're sometimes called on to suspend your disbelief and accept something ridiculous for the sake of the gag or the plot.

But also, I think a fun thing to do with fiction is to imagine how it could work. You can justify anything if you frame it right! (Which is good for storytellers... but bad for real life.)
